Théo Mercier takes control of the Musée de l'Homme!

The Musée de l'Homme gives carte blanche to Théo Mercier. A talented and experienced visual artist and stage director. Resident at the Villa Medicis, finalist of the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2014, author of many spectacular exhibitions in France, Italy and America.

A few minutes from the Madison Hotel, the young artist, leads a cross-reflexion between anthropology, ethnography, geopolitics and tourism. Deep and light at the same time, Théo Mercier makes us discover a process of finds, assemblies, overlays, collages or grafts of objects (the tires of Memento Mori).
Creator and scenographer, his work oscillates between past and present, between real, artifact and false, artisanal and industrial, profane and sacred. Mercier succeeds in creating a singular exoticism ; his world, where he challenges the notions of cultural, geographical or time identities by blurring origins and uses of the objects he exploit to create.

At the Musée de l'Homme, the artist managed to create a dialogue between his works, and already exposed collections of prehistory, anthropology and ethnology. Thus, between the hybrid and ambigous Mercier’s pieces, and already present oeuvres, sets a game of correspondences between real and imaginary anthropology.
The Passport Necklace, a fine reference to the Tour Eiffel key ring sold on the Trocadéro esplanade, next to the Musée de l'Homme, is the first of the journey. An adventuer of nine other hidden or visible intentions. Open yourself to think about who are we, where are we going and where do we come from ?!
Theo Mercier makes you discover the soul of these inanimate objects in a confusing step. Let the artist guide you, you will not be disappointed!
